Pillar Two

Relationships

Build relationships that support growth instead of slowly draining it.

Why this pillar matters

Relationships affect safety, opportunity, emotional health, family culture, and the support available when life gets difficult.

What to pay attention to

  • Respect, trust, honesty, and emotional safety
  • Communication, listening, conflict, and repair
  • Healthy boundaries and the ability to say no
  • Family, friends, mentors, school, work, and community networks

Start small

  1. Choose one relationship to strengthen with an intentional act.
  2. Set one small boundary with a relationship that repeatedly drains or harms you.
  3. Add gratitude, apology, or a feelings check-in to a family routine.

Use all four guiding principles

Turn insight into a family system.

Self-awareness

What patterns, feelings, strengths, or barriers are affecting this pillar?

Systems

What repeatable routine would make the helpful action easier?

Policies

What expectation or boundary should the household agree on?

Community

Who or what trustworthy resource could provide support?

Important
