SubmitUse the ELMS-ready record

Applies only to activities occurring on or after May 1, 2024

The assistant, calculator, category matcher, evidence guidance, folder tools, and ELMS-preparation tools use the current PGS rule era. Activities completed before May 1, 2024 must be reviewed under the guide and maximums that applied at that time.

Designed around teachersโ€”not spreadsheets

One activity record powers the full process

Teachers should not have to enter the same activity into a dashboard, spreadsheet, evidence checklist, and document generator separately.

Understand the system before using the assistant

CCEA, Contact Units, and salary advancement

The Professional Growth System was developed through the CCSDโ€“CCEA negotiated process. Contact Units, or CUs, are the units licensed educators accrue toward movement across the Professional Salary Table. The assistant helps organize information, but CCSD and CCEA guidance remain the official authorities.

CU

What is a Contact Unit?

Under current guidance, one unpaid CU generally represents three qualifying hours. A paid supplemental-rate or stipend activity generally earns one CU per six qualifying hours unless a listed exception applies. Category rules, limits, and documentation still matter.

225

Column advancement

Successful accrual of 225 approved CUs is used for one column movement. Educators must also meet the annual request, completion, and documentation deadlines shown on the official CCSD PGS page.

CCEA

CCEA member support

CCEA provides a PGS Companion Guide, virtual support, professional-learning opportunities, microcredentials, and assistance for members who believe CUs were wrongfully denied.

ELMS

Where official records live

ELMS is used for CCSD professional-learning registration and for submitting and tracking PGS documentation. FamilyPD does not submit, approve, or store official CU records.

Useful links

Start with the source that fits your question.

Do not let confusion, a denial, or a missed deadline stop you from pursuing salary advancement. Use the assistant to organize your work, then use the official and member-support links below to verify requirements and ask for help.

Your professional growth can support your financial growth.

PGS can feel overwhelming, especially when you are balancing students, family, deadlines, and documentation. Before giving up, ask questions. A missing form, unclear category, documentation problem, or denial may have a solution. Getting timely help can protect the work you already completed and help you avoid leaving possible salary advancement on the table.

FamilyPD reminder: The goal is not to chase every CU opportunity. Choose qualifying activities that strengthen your practice, keep organized records, review your Advancement Status, and get support early.

Before relying on an activity: Confirm that it aligns with your assignment or license, falls within the correct category and maximum, meets payment and time rules, includes required approvals, and can be documented by the applicable deadline.
